Poland and the Schengen Area
Poland is a member of the Schengen Area and the EU. Citizens of 60+ countries can enter visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This rule applies to the entire Schengen Area.
Required Documents
- Valid passport (issued less than 10 years ago)
- Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond departure date
- ID card (for EU citizens)
- Proof of accommodation and travel insurance
- Proof of sufficient funds for your stay
EES System (from 12 October 2025)
- Biometric data registration (fingerprints and photo)
- Children under 12 — photo only, no fingerprints
- Passport stamps replaced with digital records
- Expect longer border queues
Border with Ukraine (External EU Border)
The border with Ukraine is an external EU border. EES system active from 12 October 2025.

Crossing Tips

Border with Germany (Temporary Controls)
Poland reintroduced temporary checks at the German border from 7 July 2025 due to migration pressure.
